Richard Binder

Richard Binder

EIRB Coordinator   Richard Binder is the EIRB Coordinator. He has a lifetime of experience on the land in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region. He has been working for the Inuvialuit co-management boards in many roles, with Hunters and Trappers, EIRB, Inuvialuit Game Council and other Territorial and Federal Government organizations. He enjoys spending his summers at his whaling camp, and stays at his other camp on the Mackenzie Delta when he can.

Dez Loreen

Administrative/Communications Officer   Dez Loreen is the Administrative and Communications Officer for the EIRB.  He is a former journalist covering the north, working in print for Northern News Services (where he won two National awards for writing). He has also worked in Television news broadcasting, for APTN National News and CBC News North. His latest platform was radio news before he joined the EIRB. Before entering news reporting, he was a video editor and producer of northern TV programming for the Inuvialuit Communications Society. Born in Inuvik NT, Dez now raises his daughter with his wife, while writing and making videos in his spare time.
Bharat Dixit

Bharat Dixit

Sr. Technical Advisor   Bharat Dixit is seconded to the EIRB from the National Energy Board. He joined the NEB in 1992 as a Senior Oceanographer, and has worked in a number of different areas (Environment Branch, Regulatory Development, Pipeline Audits, and Human Resources) before joining the Exploration and Production in April 2005. He was the Chief Conservation Officer and the Team Leader till 2010.  Most recently, he was technical lead during the NEB’s Arctic Offshore Drilling Review that was initiated following the BP Macondo disaster in April 2010. Prior to joining the NEB, Bharat had worked extensively in the Arctic. Past experience includes transportation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) by ice-breaking vessels from the high Arctic, and stability and station-keeping support for drilling operations in the Canadian and U.S. Beaufort Sea. Bharat received his Ph.D. in Physics – Physical Oceanography from McGill University in 1979.
